[the camera turns on to show Masa sitting on a bed in one of the Tower Apartments, his hair a bit of a mess, and a rather big frown on his face. he lifts a hand to rub at the back of the neck - it's obvious he's not feeling too good, his nose is a bit red, and his hand shakes slightly]What is an alarm clock? It's something to do with time, I can ( Read more... )

It makes noise to wake you up. You have to set it for the right time.

Ah-! I thought it was something like that.

You can buy one at the mall? And... [a glance to the side] These buses, those are the large machines that move on the street?

At the mall, sure- I actually have one loaded right up on my NV.

And those are buses, yep- the long ones that pick people up at the bust stop signs. The smaller ones are just cars.

The NV can do that kind of thing? How?

[he peers at it curiously for a moment]

The long ones. How does one navigate these buses? I've walked everywhere.

By...loading it on. I got my music player for it down at the mall too. You'll need to go to Electronics World. Or there might be some really cheap normal alarms at the dollar store.

There's a map with the schedule, by the bus stops. You can take the train, too. Where are you working?

[he winces just slightly, he can tell how stupid he sounds, he knows how far behind he is technologically now, but he has to ask]

Load it on? Is this something they do at Electronics World?

[he nods at that last bi, and then hunches his shoulders]

I have to find a new one. I lost the one I had for being late.

Yeah, if you need help figuring it out.

Maybe you should look for a night job, if you're not a morning person.

...The sirens don't wake you up?

I don't know much about how this thing works, so I'll try that.

[he pauses, and then nods]

A night job. Maybe I'll check into that. But the nighttime is bad here, isn't it?

[he blinks a bit]

They do, but still, if I woke up and walked, all the times were wrong.

It's long, but it's not like the jobs are outside.

What do you mean, wrong? Did you hurry up?

[he tilts his head, and nods]

Then it's something I should keep in mind.

Ah...I hurried as much as I could, but my employer said that even five minutes was too late.

You should find a new job, closer to where you live.

If I learn to use these buses, though, I can go further, faster, yes?

There's nothing to really learn to use about them, you just...get a pass and go on, and get off at the right stop. It's not that hard.

But you've got to get a watch or something, so you can stay on time.
