What's the first rule of gardening? The heat is subsiding so I don't think anything will die within a day of being planted, but I'd still like to know regardless. I've never grown anything before, at least not seriously; I've heard that homegrown vegetables are better than the junk bought at supermarkets because you don't have to worry about ( Read more... )

That's your prerogative. Any particular reason why, though?

Two jobs. Enough stuff to do. School's boring anyway.

[sounds impressed] Two jobs? Aren't you an overachiever.

Not that it matters much if you find it boring, but employers like a good education. You could at lease get a better job so you won't have to balance two.

Aren't I a guy who needs to pay the landlord and my share of ice cream, you mean.

Nothing I'd learn in school would help me with jobs. I learn all I need to know to do my job without sitting around getting lectured at. I learned how to make movies in just a few weeks!

I'm surprised you can even find a place. I thought the apartments near the baseball field were off-limits after the first free month.

...Movies? How?

Don't live there, I live closer to the stadium with my friends.

I'm working with Mr. Cohen for our entry in the film festival. He's teaching me all the old cameras and editing stuff.

Must be nice to be so close to somewhere so fun. Bet you go to a lot of games, hm?

I've been thinking of attending that when I get some spare time. What's your movie about?

I work there, so yeah. I get to see almost all the games.

About how newcomers can be heroes.

Hope the teams are better than the other entertainment the city has to offer. I've only been here for a few weeks but it only took a couple days to see how boring this place really is.

[laughs] Well, given the audience you're up against, that's gonna be a controversial topic. I don't think anyone's capable of seeing us as anything more than pests.

I don't think it's too boring.

It's based on a true story!

Really? Nothing ever happens around here that doesn't have to do with the monsters or someone protesting newcomers.

Last I heard about anything remotely heroic around here was when that janitor saved that kid. It would be a good story to base a short film on.

See, you guessed it. Now you've got to come to the festival.

Maybe if there's an autograph in store. I'd hate to miss out on anything if you make it big with this.

An autograph? Hnh...Don't be silly about it.

I'm not. You don't see it happening?
