What's the first rule of gardening? The heat is subsiding so I don't think anything will die within a day of being planted, but I'd still like to know regardless. I've never grown anything before, at least not seriously; I've heard that homegrown vegetables are better than the junk bought at supermarkets because you don't have to worry about preservatives, but those take months and months to grow. Bonsai trees might be a little less high-maintenance, and I'm not adverse to flowers either. God knows this place could use the color.

[it's an embarrassing admission to make, liking flowers, and he pauses, unsure, then sighs quietly.] Never thought I'd actually be happy to see summer end. I think we all have big plans for fall, not least of all those among you who want to continue school here. Gotta give you kids credit for being so dedicated--

[and suddenly, the strangest of sounds: a soft oink. a baby sound made from a baby, one that bumps against his leg and draws his attention away for the slightest of seconds. there's a brief pocket of silence where you can practically hear Kaz rolling his eyes as he replies in a hushed, low voice,] Didn't I just feed you? Quiet.

[another animal grunt. more silence as the thing, whatever-it-was, pads quietly away to roll in Liquid's bed or something and he continues on in a completely nonplussed, cheerful tone as if he hadn't been interrupted in the first place.] ...Oh! Speaking of dedication, I'd like to talk to you when you have the time, Triela. I have something I want to show you.
