One-shot RPG - the Dragon Festival.

Feedback welcome from, well, anyone reading this.

I am going to try and run this, this weekend. I may have up to 8 players, 3 of which have not played RPGs before really.

The system will be Dungeon World to keep me sane, but I am going to give it a little more structure than the book recommends - I've found that is good for newer players and part of the reason I'm not doing Paranoia, Fiasco, or something like that.

Base concept: There are two islands around a coral reef. There is a story that a dragoon egg floats to the surface on a certain day each year. Some chosen representatives from each island deliver their offerings in an attempt to make the egg hatch. And to convince the baby dragon to be their island's protector.

The residents of both islands were descended from shipwrecked sailors, but this was a long time ago. Some people come stay on the islands from the mainland or larger islands, but they are rare.

Sunset island - Sunset island is built around a very old volcano. The villagers respect the fire spirits living inside the volcano and tend to wear red and brown. They believe that their ancestors' spirits live in the volcano, feasting and telling stories.
Playbooks available: The Brute (PW), The Sky Dancer (IW), Alchemist (PW - ?),

Clearspring Isle The highest point on Clearspring Isle is a large, gnarled tree. There is a spring under the roots of the tree that provides cool water to the entire island. The residents of the isle consider the tree their father spirit and the spring the mother spirit.
Playbooks available: The Rainlord (IW), The Golem (IW),

For the game Outright conflict between the islands is discouraged. Rather, there is a set order of 5 (3 if time issues) tasks that must be performed. These tasks will provide the offerings for the Dragon egg, and perhaps even change the nature of the newly hatched creature.

Challenge 1: Challenge of combat

Challenge 2: Challenge of environment

Challenge 3: Challenge of spirits

Challenge 4: Challenge of history

Challenge 5: Challenge of offering
