I have been listening to this, to try and hate winter less. Maybe it's working.'

I played some more Dark Souls last night - finally beat Havel after ~15 tries or more. I checked afterwards and there's a bunch of strategies to cheese the fight, but after a while I just wanted to beat him fairly. Which I did.

My copy of Double Cross came today, a day early. Which is awesome. Unfortunately, I don't have a ton of time to read it in the next few days. It's a beefy book - bigger than I thought it'd be after all these slim indy books. I do already wish there was a pdf - the powers have the great formatting like 4e powers, but I'd have to copy them all into an excel file or something to print reference cards.

There's a manga intro that is just anime as hell. But it's pretty slick at the same time, I'd love to use this to run a Naruto-type adventure or Lovecraftian shounen, or the base setting. Last week I was thinking of using it to run a reskinned version with fantasy, but the default assumptions are really quite cool.

Tarot guidance card for today is: II of Cups, inverted. "With the Two of Cups reversed, you may be struggling to form new partnerships and relationships due to a lack of trust or unfinished business from the past. You may also be reluctant to open yourself and expose your true feelings, resulting in disconnectedness from those around you or awkwardness. Your behaviour has become guarded and constrained."

Well, a bit horoscope-y, but actually pretty consistent with the rest of the week.

Busy weekend ahead.

One of my goals in the last year was to be more honest with myself about results, but I didn't do very well. Because it is often hard to do. It's hard to be honest about what you can realistically do - it means sometimes you have to limit fun time, or push yourself because the real job is going to take a while.

Or if you really need to go looking for more soundtracks when you already have so many to pick from for your dicegames.

Or how many more new dicegames you really need, for that matter.

It made me realize that I was starting to enjoy to hunt for the new stuff more than the actual media. That the gratification was more instant and there was little chance of not liking it. Because it was satisfying a hoarding impulse, rather than the original purpose.

Listening/reading, learning, appreciating, and organizing are all work. Worthwhile work, but still work.

Appreciating things takes time. Doing them right takes time. Trail of Cthulhu was a good lesson in this.
