The brain, a spider

Aug 01, 2012 12:26

I read books in much the same way that a spider catches flies. I catch them, read a chapter or two, and only come back to it in a few months when I'm reasonably confident that my thought-venom has dissolved it into an easily slurped soup.

Or something like that.

Yesterday I did some things, which was gratifying. I finally got the garage cleaned to my satisfaction, including the beer fridge. I cooked a jerk chicken, which is very tasty. I threw out some junk that's been around forever. I got my version of Xenoblade working again, but didn't actually play any.

Which brings me to my next point. I am tired of dipping my toe into the pool with things but not actually playing/reading/watching them. Sometimes it just feels like I say, "Oh, I'm familiar with that, but I don't really know it.." so much. No! Stop digesting over things for months and mulling on them and jump into the fray. Start things, finish things, but in general just do things.

Some of them will end up being a waste of time, but endlessly thinking about things but not doing them is more of a waste of time.
