My mom called today to get my yea/nay on a potential new computer:

• Sold at Best Buy for around $700.
• Can't remember the brand, but a "Toshiba, maybe."
• Can't remember the "megahertz or megabytes or whatever."
• Not for her, but for a friend.
• The friend wasn't available to be more specific.

Mom: sitting on sofa reading The New York Times. Me: sitting at desk surfing the interwebs.

Mom: "I wonder what Samantha from Bewitched is doing."

Me: "Elizabeth Montgomery?"

Mom: "Yeah. I wonder what she's up to these days."

Me: "Isn't she dead?"

Mom: "I don't think so, is she?"

Me: (checks IMDb) "Yeah, 1995. Colorectal cancer."

A man who boarded the train tonight had an outie belly button so prodigious that I could tell it was there by the impression it made from behind his shirt. Worse, it bounced up and down independently of his also-prodigious gut, like a little thumb.

I'm glad people aren't usually naked.
