I do not actually celebrate Poetry Month -- if you do, I highly recommend friending lysimache, as she has been very excited for weeks about Poetry Month (seriously, she has spreadsheets here), and she says she will be posting one poem per day. She is also generally awesome.

So one of the fun facts that I assume most of you learned in, say, high school English class is that most (all?) of Emily Dickinson's poetry is in ballad meter (apparently similar to "common meter," the internet informs me). This evening, my mom insisted that we all go to this thing called the Euphorium, which was this interactive art exhibit based on the poem Kubla Khan. I didn't want to go, but I went anyway, and it ended up being horribly tacky. Basically, bits of the poem were played to music while I walked through a darkened room. Has anybody ever actually heard a complete limerick that starts with the line "There once was a man from Nantucket"?
