Kubla Khan, and also Oz

This evening, my mom insisted that we all go to this thing called the Euphorium, which was this interactive art exhibit based on the poem Kubla Khan. I didn't want to go, but I went anyway, and it ended up being horribly tacky. Basically, bits of the poem were played to music while I walked through a darkened room. They had us wear these helmets that had mirrors angled to let us only see the ceiling, on which they had hung various little figures to represent portions of the poem. In theory, it was a really good idea, but it ended up kind of cheap and cheesy. I mean, alumininum foil was a major part of their artwork. Also I could see the pipes running along the bare ceiling. It just wasn't very convincing.

Also, watched the rest of season 1 of Oz today. I really liked it. It wasn't as squicky as I thought it would be, except for the bit where Beecher defecated on Schillinger's face. That was gross. But, other than that, I really really liked the show. I thought it was very well-made, and I liked the characters, and I want to watch what happens next. (Also I want to see this good canon slashiness that I have heard about. I'm assuming people meant something other than the Beecher/Schillinger we get here.) I can see that I probably shouldn't get too attached to any of the characters, lest they die horribly. And I liked the cannibal guy, too.

Anyway. Hmph. Want season two on DVD, or tapes or whatever. Want to see more. I'm not sure if this is going to be a show I actually want to read fiction for, or if it's one of those shows like Buffy or Babylon 5 where the canon does pretty much all I want, and there's no places I want to play "what if" with. I'm wondering if the fiction in Oz fandom is good. I'm also wondering if, since Season 1 was good, this is one of those shows that goes rapidly downhill at about Season 3? I hope not.
