So I finished reading Memory (by Lois McMaster Bujold) at about 3:40 this morning. It was really good. Reallly really good. I'm sorry I didn't read it earlier. It tops all previous horrible things done to the characters, but most of the bad stuff gets worked out in the end. I was feeling really sorry for Miles, Illyan, and Galeni during this book. Yes, I know I take my fiction too seriously.
There were some spiffy lines in this book, as there are in all her books. I wonder if there's a quote list anywhere on the web...?
But anyway, everyone should read this series. And don't stop reading them at least until you get to this book -- I read everything up to this book before this one a year ago and then stopped. I'm wishing I'd gotten to this one earlier. Hrm, I wonder if A Civil Campaign is out in paperback yet.
And I kind of want to see Miles/Illyan slash. Only there's, like, a hundred-page window in this book where I could see such a thing being possible. I'm just twisted like that. But, hey, if the author really wanted m/m subtext, I'm sure she'd have put it in there. *points to Ethan of Athos earlier in the series* She's got an all-male planet there in her universe, anyway.
