With their combined winnings, Tom and Dale were very wealthy. They found their dream home quite quickly, and moved in with the twins.
They settled into their new lives together, and sealed it by getting married on the front steps.
Dale didn't have any desire to go back to work, and as there was no financial need for it to happen, he was happy to stay home with the kids. Tom had a burning passion for the ocean, and a life long dream to work for Captain, My Captain, a local tourist charter who specialised in environmental issues for the ocean and the animals who lived in it.
Plus, he really liked the uniforms.
Dale's only interest in the ocean lay in playing pirates in the bathtub - or bedroom, when Tom was in the mood.
Not long after he started working there, did both he and Dale discover they were both pregnant.
As their pregnancies progressed, Tom did cut back on his hours, but the call of the ocean was really strong for him. He'd been promoted to head of whale watching, which was something he just loved. Now that he felt like a whale again, he wasn't so sure he could be around them as much.
Ambrose and Frieda were there when their fathers went into labour...
where they both delivered a set of twins.
Neither were the sort to do anything by halves, and their family had jumped from four to eight in minutes! Dale delivered two girls, Alaina Liberty and Roxy Raven, while Tom delivered a girl and boy, Treasure Claire and Clay Baxter.
Tom loved his children, but he still wanted to advance at work. His hours were crazy, with him often leaving before dawn, so they hired a live in nanny to help out with the kids and housework.
Celeste was a great help around the house. With four babies, it was a full time job for both of them!
Not long after the quads - as they were called - became toddlers, did Dale discover he was pregnant again.
Thankfully, it was a single birth, and it was another girl, who they called Trixie Demelza.
Things were noisy, messy and wonderful. Dale had no interest in returning to work, but he didn't always enjoy staying at home. Tom was loving his job, but he loved coming home to be surrounded by his family.
There was no way they could have done it without Celeste's help.
Tom still found time to catch up with his friends from the House, and was pleased to hear that Aeryn and Asparagus had fixed their troubles.
Things changed quickly for them, all in a rush.
Tom came home early from work, after a large error in judgement that saw him capsizing a boat full of tourists through Shrieking Eel infested waters. He'd only just managed to keep his job, but he was put on probation.
Ambrose heard Tom's car and had rushed out to see him. Getting one on one time was hard, so Ambrose took whatever he could get.
He wasn't the only one up so early.
It was the absolutely worst day of their lives. Dale swore it was the first time it had happened, but admitted to flirting heavily with Celeste for months. He was feeling neglected and trapped, and he spent more time with Celeste than Tom these days. Dale had never hidden his wandering eye, but had done his best to keep it under control during their marriage. Tom fired Celeste after he kicked her ass. No matter what happened between him and Dale, she was not going to be looking after his children.
They didn't know what to do. They had seven children together, and there was a lot of joint property and money. Plus, they loved each other, though they were both really mad. After telling Aeryn about their troubles, she suggested he and Dale see the therapist she and Asparagus had seen.
Tom wasn't sure he wanted to reconcile with Dale - part of him wanted to boot the cheating ass out the door...but Dale was still his husband, and he loved him.
After months of therapy, they were both able to work through their problems and forgive each other. They were committed to making their marriage work.
Now that most of their children were in school, they didn't need a live in nanny, and Tom decided it was time that he stay at home. They didn't need the money, and they needed the happy, stable home more.
But not long after they got their family back together, they were hit with a nasty surprise.
Someone had reported them to child services, claiming that their children were neglected, and that they were unfit parents. Both Tom and Dale were sure Celeste was behind this, as their children had always been very well cared for and loved. The social worker told them that they would be monitored closely, and if they passed several surprise inspections, their case would be dropped...otherwise the children would be removed.
It was a close call, but after making it through so much, they were not going to lose their children too. They were in it together, for ever.
Notes:
- I did not plan for Trixie! She's the result of them ignoring me and listening to ACR. She grows into her eyes, don't worry.
- Aeryn just LOVES to visit people.
- That whole scene with Dale and Celeste? Had nothing to do with me. It was them. I just sat back and tried to pick up my jaw. Tom had been demoted due to a bad chance card, and got home just as they were slipping into bed together. Times like this make me wonder if my game is trying to take over...
- I did send Dale to apologise to Tom (who was trying to take out the trash, which is totes what you do after you find your husband in bed with the nanny, right?), but he immediately jumped back into bed with Celeste! He didn't mean it. Bastard.
- Dale was also cheering for Celeste the whole time. And they weren't even friends before they jumped into bed together! I'm just glad she didn't get pregnant!
- And then the social worker! My jaw hit the floor again. I believe she turned up because Celeste called them I'd used the freezer clock on the kids. Immediately after Trixie was frozen, she turned up. Well, one did. The first social worker was glitched, which you'll see in the bloopers, and this one said she'll give them 24 hours to fix it. The first one tried to take them all, but only got Frieda. I wasn't going to let them lose their babies!
- AND IT'S DONE. Well, apart from the bloopers post, which follows this one. But this years Big Brother is over! Man, it takes a lot to get it done. Thanks again for reading, voting and enjoying it :D
