Postcards From Pleasantview

Sep 15, 2010 23:12

Today I played the original Broke family in Pleasantview.
When we last saw them: Dustin was fired from his part time job for bad grades before reaching adulthood, Brandi fell in love with Jason Larson over a booty call and the boys were rejected entry to private school despite Dustin having grown up and moved out.

Bob: "My brother Beau is such a grown up already.  He even reads the newspaper.  I know, right?  He's already like a little old man!"

Bob: He didn't hear me earlier, right?
Bahaha!  Yeah, I'm pretty sure he heard you....

Beau isn't one to hold a grudge over the innocent words of a child, though.  Quite the opposite.  He had privately been thinking for some time that Brandi was waiting too long to get another dog.  Bob was almost old enough to start high school - he was well and truly old enough to understand that pets will die someday!  So he adopted little Jake from the animal shelter.  Bob couldn't be happier!

The younger Broke boys are very studious compared to their eldest brother....

Bob is quite fond of his nanny's "gourmet" cooking.

Brandi: "Hi, son!  What are you painting?"
Bob: "Me and Dustin, of course.  Can I give it to him after it's finished?"
Brandi: "Of course."

Bob misses Dustin a lot.  He's the only father figure he's ever known!

Brandi was a little unhappy with the puppy Beau had chosen.  Jake was almost a full grown dog (seriously, he aged from puppy to adult dog not two hours after being adopted!)  Since money wasn't too tight at present, Brandi decided to adopt a puppy all of her own.  One that would sleep in her room and be a pampered lap dog.  So she picked out a sweet little grey puppy named Korey.

She likes him very much.  He's helping her get over her broodiness.

I have to admit, he is cute.  And it's nice to have some doggies around the trailer getting in to mischief.

Beau: He'd better not be about to chew up my bed....
No, he's just taking a nap on it....

Brandi and Sam Starchild have become the best of friends.  Sam was a little surprised at first to see that those rumors about Brandi living in a trailer were true, but she's not judgemental.

With money an ever present issue in her life, Brandi decided to try to supplement her income by writing a novel.  Sure, she'd never done anything like that before, but all the websites said to write what you know.....

.... so she did.  It was painful at times, especially when she thought of Skip and the awful thing that had happened, and the struggles that had followed his death.  But she was just sure that her novel would be a success.  The story began with her heroine coming home from grocery shopping to find her husband face down in the swimming pool.  She decided to call the novel "Floating".

Bob: "It's my birthday!"
I know, sweetie.  Happy birthday!

Aging up would have to wait though.  BJ Ryan had arrived for dinner, as Beau was desperate for another attempt to gain entrance to private school.
BJ: "Is that an erotic dessert?"
No, it's just profiteroles, I swear!
BJ: "A likely story!"

Beau: Why did Jake have to dig up the yard today of all days?  If the headmaster sees all these holes, I'm doomed!
He may not have seen the holes, but the headmaster was not impressed by what he considered the suggestive dessert.  Beau and Bob were rejected once more.

Jake: *has been chasing Beau around the trailer for the last half hour*
Beau: Why doesn't my dog like me?
You never play with him.  I don't blame him one bit.

Bob grew up very well in to a popularity sim.  He dreams of making lots of new best friends in high school.  Money is still a little tight, so he had to take what he could get from goodwill.  But surely fashion won't matter too much even in high school with a face like that.

He had a lot of study to do after school, though... so much that he couldn't finish all his homework in one sitting!

Beau: "Stop posing, Bob!" *giggle*
Bob: "What?  I'm not!"
Bob poses the entire time he watches television.  He's all about the head tilt!

Beau: "I can't believe you managed to get the pretty exchange student to come over on your first day of school..."
Bob: "Relax, bro.  It's not like you think it is.  She's interested in Stepha Tinker, if you get my drift...."
Beau: Yeah, right....

Beau: "Gah!  Stop making it look so easy!"
Beau was not having a good day...
