Welcome to the office of tomorrow, yesterday....
On Monday the company moved to its new, plush, harbourside offices. I rode in - to motorcycle parking space 13, picked up bike clothing locker 13. New mouse, new keyboard, same old base unit and monitor. Slightly smaller desk, exceptionally better view - now I have a window seat with views onto the harbour and the rich buggers on the other side of the water in their 3, 4 and 5 storey 'harbourside apartments and penthouses'. They're busy watching the proles work. I'm losing 5-20 minutes a day in time to the extra traffic and travel. The drivers are more dangerous on the Harbourside side of town. Typical. Food wise, the tea is more expensive and is truly of neutrimat quality but the choices for food are legion. For the first time since working here I feel like I'm working for a multinational company. I won't be eating in a lot though as its also bloody expensive.
After the book filled day on Sunday I'm straining at the creative bit. Once I get the book finished I have girfan willing to give it the once over and the Bristol Bibliogoth group said they'd give it a go when I met some at girfans birthday meal a couple of months ago. I think they'll probably find it a little low brow for their tastes but you never know. Quite enjoyed re-reading it myself Sunday.
The fireworks party on Saturday has inspired me to have people around to socialise more often. It was great to see people and to relax. Missed Subs at the weekend but really didn't have the energy to go and with oryctolagus' deployment work on Sunday there'd have been no way we'd have coped. We did consider doing fireworks and then subs but as its one of the precious things oryctolagus, splatbatt and I do as a family there is little that's allowed to cut in.
Today is the third day in the new building - the drinks machine in our area stopped working yesterday. 24 hours in and here come the faults. Lethargic this week - I think I may be post viral. Having trouble sleeping.
Working on new gig stuff even though my hearts not in it again today. A couple of new connections and the like. Also need to work on he adverts for the next release. Nothing major just the base outlines so that I can make sure I include the download services and the bands webspace and myspace on all of the advertising going forward. A template if you will.
