【Tsukiuta】 lyrics: KALMIA to Samidare ／ Koinobori ／ LOVE FRUIT
And now we jump back to Tsukiuta! Here we have the two song albums for the May characters. As usual, both albums share the same composer and the same second song. These two albums mark the final solo albums for the members of the first male and female group units, Six Gravity and Fluna, respectively. This is also the last Women's album originally released with their Men's counterpart (back in mid 2013) for a long time until they picked up with the Seleas album releases at the end of January 2015.
(KALMIA to Samidare)
- Starting with the Men's side, the character for May is Satsuki Aoi, voiced by KENN. His surname is the traditional Japanese term for the month of May. Aoi is a refreshing prince-like character, responsible and mature. He tends to look after others, and is childhood friends with Arata (April).
- This first song is probably one of my most favorites from these early solo songs! And KENN's singing is always a joy to listen to~♪
- The "kalmia" referenced in the title is a type of evergreen shrub also known as the Mountain Laurel.
(Koinobori)
- Again, since both albums share this second song, I'll be combining the notes together. "Koinobori" is a traditional Japanese song associated with Children's Day (May 5). The term itself refers to those carp-shaped streamers. And since this is a song for Children's Day, the lyrics are written out entirely in hiragana (the basic Japanese written alphabet that most children learn before kanji).
- The official site lists the second song titles as just "Koinobori" but one some other sites, I've sometimes seen Aoi's version listed with "(bossa ver mix-AOI-)" included. I have never seen something similar ever listed for Wakaba's version, so who knows?
(LOVE FRUIT)
- On the Women's side, we have Yuki Wakaba voiced by Uchiyama Yumi. She's a energetic sporty girl, gutsy and unafraid to stand up for her strong sense of justice. She's also best friends with Chisa (April). She can put on a "manly" face during critical moments, so she's got a large number of fangirls! And you know, I've always had a thing for blue hair~♪
- This is probably one of my absolute favorite of the female solo songs! It's fun, catchy, and makes me want to dance like a showgirl~ That and even before I'd actually gone through and translated the lyrics, I knew what the "...nante joudan" at the end meant right away! I do so enjoy a quirky sense of humor~
- If you couldn't tell from the title, there's a lot of "forbidden fruit" imagery in these lyrics (like the biblical story of the Garden of Eden).
