Ugh...
I really wish someone would create some addon that fixes all the 'changes' LJ has made. Kind of like the Social Fixer someone made for Facebook. You would think with how everyone hates these changes, someone would make an addon that doesn't include the greasemonkey addon.
(The only reason I don't use greasemonkey is because I'm not too good with coding. I would be so lost if something went wrong. An addon like the Social Fixer wouldn't be too bad as I can just click whatever offending problem is going on).
