Queen Beatrix Abdicates!!
This is just a real quick entry since I don't have time to post every single one of my thoughts! Hopefully, I'll expand on this later.
I pretty much just found out that Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands announced her abdication!! I know abdication is common there for monarchs, but I never expected it to happen, not now! I feel like I've only began to watch royals, especially those outside of Britain! Now, I'm seeing the transition of one ruler to another, seeing a coronation of a king!! And Maxima's one of my favorite princesses!!
I'm just feeling so much shock right now! And blast it all, I can't keep up with everything in the forums!!! I already have like 6 or 10 forums to keep up, 6 of them are permanent tabs! I can't keep track of this and the Cambridges and Victoria and Daniel and Madelaine and her wedding and whatever British royal I'm looking up (Queen, Anne, Charles and Harry have one tab to share, I change their forums regular when I see a thread of theirs updated) and looking up other royal threads!!!
Gah! I think I wrote more than I wanted! I'll add more lately, maybe!
Edit: Okay, let's add just a little bit to this.
I suppose when you think about it, it's not too surprising given all she's gone through for the past year, but still, it's shocking when you haven't been following royalty closely. I wasn't expecting something like this, not for awhile. Through, I suppose this is better than the alternative. Queen Beatrix isn't going anywhere! :) She just won't be queen anymore.
Of course, the plus side to this is I get to see my first coronation! Okay, it's not really a coronation like Britain does them...but still! I can only imagine what Princess Maxima is going to wear for this! Bring on the tiaras!!! XD Especially the very old and historical ones! That's what I love: tiaras with history!! ^_^
