A most pleasant day!

Dear Diary,

Today was a good day. I rode my bicycle to work and ran into my best friend from highschool Sandra. I was so happy to see her! We talked and then we met later for lunch at the soda shop and talked about the good times we had. I ordered a sloppy joe and Sandra had a chicken salad sandwich. And then my sloppy joe slipped out of my hands and fell onto the front of my white shirt! Oh my goodness! I was so flustered and nearly died of embarassment. Luckily, Sandra had an extra shirt in her bag and plastic bag - So the stain wouldn't set! Thank goodness Sandra is always prepared!

Work was okay after lunch. I helped Mrs. Fischer tidy her room, and she showed me some old photographs of her family. Her father used to be a Sea Captain. I loved her photos and told her that being a Sea Captain must have been a really big job! She laughed and said that there was never a job too hard for her father to do. She hugged me and it was a most beautiful time together.

After work I came home from the rest-home and made dinner while waiting for Ricky to come home from his long day at the office. He's the best. I put my shirt to soak in the laundry tub, too. I even made ambrosia for desert with real whipped cream! I spoil Ricky sometimes, but he's the best! He works so hard too. I bet he could be a Sea Captain, but then I'd be so lonely here at home without his handsome smile to bring me cheer.

We ate roastbeef for dinner with corn-on-the-cob and mashed potatoes. Ricky said I was the best cook ever. I love him so much for noticing all the little things I do. Shucks, I don't know a guy who's more swell!

We listened to Adventure Theatre on the radio in the evening while he smoked his pipe and I stitched the roses on my cross-stitch red. Later I washed my hair and put it in a set and sat down to write this. There's only one thing that is missing right now from this terrific life of mine, a darling baby. I wish the stork would come soon, so we can have a family. Ricky doesn't know that I have been knitting baby booties and jumpers and hiding them in the cedar chest. Won't he be surprised!

Good-night dear diary!
