I called Comcast this morning, and my worst fears came to light (it is rare to find someone who's actually helpful at Comcast). I was told that I was given wrong information regarding the whole ordeal for the router and was being charged the standard internet only price ($57 per month). It seems I forgot to pay one of my bills last month. Somehow the bill for my student loan interest payments got overlooked, probably between Christmas stuff and doubles shifts at work.
