In the last few days things have taken a drama-free turn around the house. My mom came home from the hospital, Juan is back, and the unpacking is coming along. I've even found enough time to resume doing double shifts at UPS to prepare for the upcoming holiday rush. Because of the operation my mom will be home for a few more weeks, which means I don't have to be home as often. And she's recovering nicely, she even bought herself a 42-inch plasma TV for her room which she's enjoying on the days she's too sore to get out of bed. Oddly enough she's not a fan of HDTV at all, she just wanted a flat screen TV.
As for me, I've switched around my hours at PetSmart (taking Mondays off) in order to work the entire day at UPS. Now that means I'm only working about six hours this week at PetSmart, which is fine by me. I had no idea the hours at a retail job could vary so wildly. Sometimes I find myself working just under 20 hours a week (in addition to the 20 to 25 hours at UPS) or sometimes I'm just working six hours a week. Considering how much stuff is left to unpack working less than 15 additional hours per week isn't a bad thing. I'm just not looking forward to when work at UPS starts on Sunday, meaning I'll be working about seven days a week, since I always have to work Saturdays at PetSmart.
When I haven't been unpacking I've been trying to work down my anime backlog, or get out of the house when possible. Two Saturdays ago I was invited to a party where I had a blast. I borrowed my mom's smaller digital camera and took a few pictures, but I'm too lazy to fetch my memory card to upload the photos. I'll probably get around to it someday, although I haven't decided if I want to upload the photos exclusively to Facebook and then share a link, or upload them here to LJ as well. In the meantime I'll share a few pictures I've had floating around on my cellphone for a little while. Click on the images for a larger picture, all links open in a new window.
-After working on everyone else's room, I finally decided to tackle my own room last week. Packing and unpacking books are really a pain, given how heavy the are. This is only a fraction of my collection, and I haven't even started on my manga (which takes up three boxes) yet! Also,
Acres of Skin is not a porno book, honest!
-I discovered this character while at UPS, near one of truck loading areas early one summer day. Someone is really a big fan of Punch Out!. I have fond memories of all the game overs I got when I played that game.
-I actually found this old Genesis game manual while packing. It's proof that I at least played (I can't remember if I owned it) Streets of Rage 3. And I honestly only tried the game because of the kangaroo.
