Man this entry turned out bad

I was very impressed by the ladder Jon managed to get for me from the Hardware department. It moved silently and smoothly, and you didn't have to jump on the bottom step to lock it. I didn't even have to put all my weight on it.

"So you take care of the colorant," Jon said, "That way we know it'll be done before I leave. I'm going to take a fifteen."

"Sounds good," I said. "Wait, when do you get off?"

"Ten," he said.

"Oh, good." That just meant that I only had the department to myself after the store closed.

"And you get off at," he made a bewildered face, "eleven thirty!"

"Yeah, I'm not going to stay that late," I said. "I think they only schedule me that late because I'm not available until seven-thirty, and they can't give me less than four hours. I'm going to head out at eleven. I have a test tomorrow."

Jon nodded enthusiastically. "That is way more important to spend your time on," he said. "I mean, what is this job for you, beer money?"

"Car money," I said.

"What are you going to regret more, a few bucks from here, or failing a test?"

"Exactly," I said, "That's why I'm leaving at eleven instead of eleven-thirty."

Hmm, and now that I'm actually writing this entry, I completely forget what Jon said next. But it was very profound, and it was about sticking to your goals, or something like that. I remember he said something about this job being a stepping stone for me, and that I needed to stick with my goal, or something. It was very profound and worth putting in a journal, at least.
