Apparently I've been getting younger looking recently. I know I have never looked older (or perhaps the same) as my age - but this has been ridiculous.

On Tuesday a friend of mine had her thesis proposal/qualifying exams. This is a pretty big deal because if you don't pass you're kicked out of the PHD program and if you do pass you get your master's degree. When Rosie passed her lab had cake and champagne for her, which one other girl and myself invited ourselves to. Aside from Rosie the rest of her lab is Chinese, and the other girl and I are not. As the PI was going around the room handing out champagne he stopped at me and asked if I was allowed to drink - which I laughed at and said yes. A few people later he got to the other girl and asked her the same thing. She and I both laughed and she said yes. To this he replied, "Sorry, I can never tell how old Americans are."

Saturday Kirk and I went to a wedding, and there were a many adults friends of the couple's parents in attendance. I ran into the secretary for the department I'm in. Later at the reception I was at the bar getting a drink and she asked me if I was old enough to be drinking, and I laughed and said yes. When I asked the bartender for a second drink for Kirk, she stopped me and asked if he was old enough to drink - to which I almost fell over. I laughed and told her he was three years older than me, putting us at 24 and 27.

So, I guess marriage has been treating us well - but I'm concerned in a few more years people will question if we are old enough to drive.
