through thick and thin

Yesterday I exploded my hot/cold pack in the microwave. I had intended to nuke it for a minute and when I came back several minutes later the microwave was still running and the blue goo was all over. I guess thats what I get for trying to operate machinery before having my morning caffeine.

As I was at CVS buying a new hot/cold pack I had a flash back to when I purchased the recently-exploded one at the 21st Ave CVS in Nashville sometime during the fall of 2000. This stupid plastic thing with its blue goo got me through a lot, and strangely enough has memories of many friends linked to it.

-Freshman year: when we stayed up way too late throwing on Alumni lawn and I bruised the soft tissue of my right index finger and couldn't write/type for awhile. [involved: Cara, Matt, Chris, Mike(?), Kyle (?)]

-Freshman year: when my RA slammed her hand in a door and I lent it to her and Cara and I believe that is the only reason she ever learned my name.

-Sophmore year: when I sprained my shoulder at Itchfest in the game against UT. [involved: much of the same people + MaryHunt]

-Junior year: when I got scarlet fever over Thanksgiving and Kirk helped me through it all by getting medicine, food, etc.

-Junior year: within five minutes of meeting Rob for the first time he sprained his ankle because I made him play frisbee.

-Senior year: when Eric hit me in the face with a baseball.

-Senior year: used on bruises acquired from playing with FLO, the Nashville women's ultimate team.

I'm sure there are a few more that I can't remember at the moment (hopefully not my own injuries, but times I lent it to others). That hot/cold pack got me through quite a bit.
