New Scientist has put on their website a selection of winning pics from an underwater photography contest run by WetPixel and DivePhotoGuide. They're stunning. And in some cases disturbing. Definitely worth a look.
EDIT: To dancingwolfgrrl's point: the pics aren't disturbing because they're gross. Maybe thought-provoking is a better description?

I'm currently reading The End of the Line by Charles Clover, environment editor at The Daily Telegraph in the UK. The book looks at fisheries industries worldwide, and how fish get from the ocean to our plates. It's an eye-opener, even for me.

Ahah! Seachoice has created a Canadian Seafood Guide. I've been using the ones published in the United States by Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program. I'm really happy to see a Canadian guide, even though it's almost identical to the Seafood Watch one.
