Just got done reading
this article posted on Wired. It looks at the shaky position Sony is in right now and just how much Blu-Ray and PS3 matter to their future. Even though I'm a big fan of the Xbox and Xbox 360 I'm no fanboy. I think people who put down one console over another only do it to justify their purchase because they can't afford to own more than one console. I really do hope the PS3 is a big success. I just wish Sony might lose some of it's arrogance and realize they're not the only game in town.
In the article it mentions how developers are having such a hard time with the PS3 hardware but that may be because it's technically very future proof. I never really thought of it that way, always assuming it had similar power to the 360. I will say that watching the Metal Gear Solid videos I'm seeing animation and particle effects that not even Gears of War is showing off, and Gears is IMO the best looking 360 game coming out in the near future. That stuff helps a lot with grounding the player in the game world.
One thing is certain, if the PS3 eventually sells as many units as the PS2, Blu-Ray will win out over HD-DVD in the format war. It's going to be a very interesting holiday season.
