new car!
I have just bought a new car!!! Wheeee!!! It is a 2009 Hyundai Getz, silver, 5 door, with 30 000km. It is the single most expensive purchase of my life.* It was also extremely hard for me to take that leap. I had another dealership offering me slightly cheaper on a 2010 model, yellow, 1500km, but it was 3 door. In the end the extra 2 doors, managing to get them to match the other dealer's price and the fact that I simply couldn't be assed driving to the other side of the city to look at the other car, were the determining factors.
I don't yet have the car, which is a little anti-climatic. Now is the whole process of transferring the loan, etc. Should hopefully be able to pick it up from Thursday.
Oh, and it must be documented that I FAIL EPICALLY. I have this problem where I just seem to lose concentration on important things. I'm easily distracted and it can be to the detriment of others. For example, while we were test-driving, Paolo and Ben (P's mate and mechanic) decided to switch seats. I saw Ben get into the front passenger seat, heard the door close and thought 'Right! We're off!' ....Except Paolo was only halfway in the car. I actually drove off, hitting him with the car in the process! I heard him exclaim but thought he hadn't had a chance to close the door, looked over my shoulder and realised he wasn't there! I am a danger to others and you have been warned.
I need to come up with a name for Getzy now. Oooh how about Gatsby!!!! Like The Great Gatsby!!!
In other news, possibly going on mini break with P, Ben and his girl (and possibly Pete and his girl but one hopes not) around Chrissy/New Years. The only problem with this is that all the decent places are already booked. Will contemplate further.
*Excluding my tertiary education, which I don't start paying off till I earn over 41K/year, God Bless HECS.
