Things I like about hockey:
- It's really cool to watch guys somehow act graceful and macho at the same time
- They have little isolation cubes they must sit in and feel ashamed when they do something naughty
- Fist-fights are condoned by everyone but the refs
- They tell you to take care and watch out for flying pucks. Hee.
- Players are quite attractive
- Refs on ice skates. I kept having visions of them forgetting they were meant to be following the game and instead start doing little twirls and leaps. Especially one ref who I suspect is a figure skater during the day. He kept doing these flamboyant moves.
I think spending my night at an ice hockey game was money well-spent. I couldn't afford to see the NHL team so I saw the junior team instead. There was still a crowd of 7000. I would've loved a jersey but they're $135. Woe. Settled for a hoodie and a puck.
I had a really good seat though I realised it was just above the protection of the barrier and was constantly having visions of being knocked unconscious by a stray puck. There were two fist-fights. Vancouver Giants won 8-0.
Last night in the hostel, tomorrow I go to Bob and Irene's. Am a little nervous.
