her fearful symmetry

I have arrived safe and sound at Bob and Irene's aka my Vancouver contacts. And by that I mean they are friends with a guy my mum works with. They're lovely people and don't mind carting me around Vancouver to do touristy things. Bob waffles a lot though. I mean, he starts a story and by the end of it I can remember what the original point was. For example we were watching the NHL and I asked if the Vancouver team was doing well this year. His response included a history of the various teams in Canada and when they joined the league. Actually, he talks in essay form. Begins with a succinct sentence, mindless waffle in the middle, finishes with the answer to the question.

I finished Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger last night. I enjoyed it, though it wasn't as good as The Time Traveler's Wife. There just wasn't the same connection between reader and characters with this book. But she has such a unique style and I love the language she uses. I found parts of the book a little disturbing and actually now that I think about it I didn't really like most of the main characters by the end. Still, I think it was worth the money. I wish I could write as prettily as she does. And I love the title of this book. It's such an odd yet beautiful collection of words.

I'm such a nerd I was actually writing a review for this book in my dreams last night. I actually do it quite often.

I should be working on my cover letter for a job I want to apply for but I just can't be bothered. It's hard to care when you're on the other side of the world. And this keyboard is very clunky. Old school.
