As a booklover, I find it really disappointing that the only time there are massive, security-controlled crowds for a book signing is when it is "written" by a sporting player. It's sad testament to the flaws of our society when someone receives more recognition for the size of their muscles instead of the depth of their knowledge.

We had a football player in the store for a signing today and it was insane. Christmas rush plus rabid fans equals death to all sales assistants. It was a very long and sore day. I was already exhausted from the work Christmas party last night, which was lots of fun. I ate far too much and felt really sick this morning, but it was worth it.

Actually, last night we were discussing how I am a naturally buzzed person [I can talk a mile a minute and have a penchant for rambling] when one co-worker said, "That's probably how she stays so skinny." I was a little surprised. I think that's the first time EVER someone has referred to me as "so skinny". I'm not a waif and never will be a waif, nor am I overweight, but I've never been called skinny before by someone who isn't a friend.

I made the mistake of passing out on the couch for two hours when I got home this afternoon so now I can't get to sleep. I'm so physically drained, my body aches terribly and all I want to do is curl into a ball. Instead I am listening to Elton John, nursing my wounds and trying not to get too bored.

life, random, work
