Eric Blair's Nightmares

Eric Blair was an English author and is better known as George Orwell. Orwell is of course a genius, no denying. I've read Nineteen Eighty-Four. Almost everyone who tells me about their own experience with the novel goes on about how terrifying they found it. I wasn't really bothered by it. I found it interesting, and good, but it didn't destroy me. Perhaps I'm a heartless stone.

On the last day of school before Christmas Break my economics teacher played part of the movie Animal Farm (1999 version). We didn't finish the film, there wasn't enough time. I found the limited amount I did see very upsetting though. Looking at the scene where Old Major is being butchered, and the animals in revolt is pretty grusome.

The film itself didn't get me, I was so distracted by it I went to wikipedia and looked up Animal Farm. I was of course, horrified to read the plot summary. A friend warned me while watching the movie that I wouldn't like it, that it was too disturbing. I hate when they're right.

I shouldn't probably go over the whole thing, but it isn't good, and now I'm very... distracted. I really liked, from what I saw, the character Boxer (the workhorse) and what happens to him... *shudders*

Damn you George Orwell and your dystopias.
