Once upon a time I took some bookbinding classes. I've traveled...pretty extensively. This guy, though, he's made a life of it. Documenting his walking tours of Japan, selling his work in jaw dropping handmade books. Once I get past the nearly overwhelming feeling of jealousy and envy, there's nothing but respect.

On the hustle.

A week ago tomorrow I flew to Orange County, California for a week of work. I finished reading the second of the Gray Man novels, On Target, when I got to the hotel. Having finished the book I was reading, I have a few I'm looking at next. I want to continue with the frivolous summer read, leave the heavier stuff for fall.

I keep picking up and putting down The Odyssey. That feels like a book I could and should read and reread forever.

Monsoon-like rains last night. One part of the city got an inch of rain in ten minutes. These types of storms, once rare, are getting to be more common. The rain hitting the window next to the bed was really loud, woke me up. That was around midnight. I walked around the apartment. Pottering. The rains let up and I went back to bed ( Read more... )

I woke up this morning feeling anxious and all that and I thought, you know what, fuck that. So I set about looking for ways to squash it. I think I've been mildly successful.
