On the hustle.

A week ago tomorrow I flew to Orange County, California for a week of work. I finished reading the second of the Gray Man novels, On Target, when I got to the hotel. Reading Killers of the Flower Moon now. he gig was great! My best client. I'm treated with respect, paid well, challenged, the people I work with through them are good. It was a good week. After the past, almost two years, of shit gigs, it was good to do a good one. To reaffirm that the work I do is best done in-person! In the same room with other human beings trying to solve problems! How revolutionary...

The office I was working in was right on the ocean. There were surf boards in the lobby and around the office. Got to take Highway 1 from the office back to the hotel.

It was a good gig. The client mentioned they might have a gig in Tahiti in May! ...Believe it when I see it. I guess the job would be three days on a cruise ship and then a few days "island hopping." I won't say no if it's offered! Did I mention how much I prefer in-person to shitty-fucking-virtual?!

Friday was spent traveling back. Left the hotel around 8:30 AM local time and didn't get back home until around 7:30 PM local. Worked on the flight. First time I've ever done that. It was good, I was really productive! The flight felt really fast as a result.

Wore a mask everywhere for the week. I wasn't bothered by the crowds...I wasn't nervous about catching COVID. I was working with a medical group, so, they were all vaccinated, which helped. But when I was in the airport, or on a flight, or at a restaurant, I didn't feel weird. I don't socialize with anyone. I don't have family or anyone I might infect, so... I'll be inside the next week or two.

So, I joined the Chelsea Supporters' Trust earlier this year. They had a meeting at Stamford Bridge yesterday morning. Chelsea gave them a space and catered the meeting! I couldn't be there, so I joined via zoom. It was kinda funny watching these old, very English fans bitch and moan about being a Chelsea fan while sitting in a free room at the grounds, eating free food and drinking free drinks. I'm just jealous I couldn't be there.

I work again Tuesday and Wednesday. It's a shit virtual gig, but...beggars and all that... I'll take the money.

I finally got a Spotify account. I won't go into all the reasons I haven't gotten one until now. (I do have good reasons.) It's been fun setting up the account across all my stuff. I have it on my AppleTV right now playing the Nine Inch Nails playlist, Better Alone.

I feel unbelievably lazy today and see no reason to be anything other than unbelievably lazy today. It's muggy and overcast. There's nowhere to go. I have movies and TV and books and music and food and drink right here to enjoy.
