Teaching a Healthcare Revolution

May 10, 2014 10:35

I have to say that I miss nursing. I spent the last three days teaching an eight hour class to medical providers. The topic was Nuance Dragon dictation, a voice recognition program. This meant I was talking the time. Each night after the class I was exhausted, crabby, raw throated, and brain-dead. I have SO much respect for those teachers that teach full time a whole day. Happy Nurses and Teachers Appreciation Week!

Despite the long classes, I am happy that my "pupils" are liking the program and are generally pleased. Healthcare is in the midst of a technological revolution fueled by the Meaningful Use Incentive. This means change and change, although it can be good, is not as easily accepted by the masses.
