When Auntie died (can't believe it's almost been two months already...) a lot of her belongings, including some stuff that belonged to my grandparents, were shuffled around to us, and we started going through some of it today. We found some nifty stuff:
-A handful of old coins, including two 5-pfennig (penny) Reichmark coins from Germany and several Franc coins from (bloody damn) France that Grampa brought back after he fought in WWII. The Reichmarks have an eagle holding a swastika in its talons on. There are also some Japanese coins (or maybe Korean, my uncle fought in Korea) in the mix.
-Some German propaganda postcards, also from WWII.
-My Gramma Helen's diplomas from business school. I think it was just a two-year school, my ma said in those days if a girl wasn't married right out of high school, she went to business school to become a secretary or accountant.
-LOTS of pictures, mostly of me, my brothers, and my cousins as young kids, and some of my ma and her siblings as kids, too. One shows Gramma Helen in her early twenties, perhaps, on the beach in a coverall bathing suit. :) This was in the 1930's. I think that's neat. I'm going to scan the older ones to preserve them.
That is all.
