It's getting late. Most of the Chandler compound is asleep by now, but the lights in Grahame's study are still on. The speech Reed is giving tomorrow is getting one last polish before Grahame goes to bed himself.

There's no such thing as keeping regular hours when you work behind the scenes in politics.

There's nothing much that distinguishes this particular event from any of the others the Chandlers have attended this year. The usual type of people, the usual chatter, and for Grahame Chandler, the usual boredom. Grahame knows the entire situation is a disaster in the making. He should pull rank, take control away from Violet and maybe put her somewhere quiet until she comes to her senses, and see to it that Reed gets a stake in the heart. His brother is gone. Irretrievably.
