Chapter 6
Jun didn’t realize when he had dozed off in Mao’s bed, but he certainly had a shock when Mao suddenly sat up, breaking away from his arms around her back in the middle of the night.
She was sweating and breathing heavily, clutching the blanket that covered them both.
“What is it?” Jun asked in an anxious voice as he got up himself. He knew that she probably had a nightmare but he asked her anyway.
“It... came...” Mao didn’t manage to finish her sentence because she burst into tears before she could say her last word.
Jun whispered ‘It’s okay, I’m here’ repeatedly into her ears as he made her lie back down on her bed. One hand was always holding Mao while the other hand started to unbutton his own shirt.
He wiped her tears off her face with his fingers and kissed her eyes lightly before embracing her. He transferred his warmth to her so that she could feel that he was trying to comfort her, trying to alleviate her fear. He felt her trembling body against his and hugged her tighter until the trembling resided.
When Mao had calmed down, she managed to mouth a ‘thank you’ to Jun in the darkness of the room. She could feel Jun next to her, holding her close to him. His presence managed to take her away from the world of fear and darkness. Jun’s hands touched her head and her shoulders, pushing her lower until her head rested on his bare chest. His chest wasn’t sweaty like how her body was, but it was just warm and comforting to her. She heard his heartbeat coming from beneath his skin. The steady heartbeat calmed her, giving her a steady pace to adjust her own heartbeat to. Mao let her ear rest on his chest and she let the side of her head relax against that soft surface. It was like that day, the day when she woke up clutching Jun’s t-shirt, the day that she had spent her first night with him after a night full of lust and passion for each other. That night was very memorable for her and she was happy that Jun felt the same way.
She started to wrap her arms around Jun’s naked body and Jun lifted his back a little so that she could tuck her left arm under him. Soon, his arms were around her, coaxing her closer to him. Jun patted Mao lightly, in an effort to make her go back to sleep.
“Thank you, Jun.” Mao breathed those words against Jun’s bare skin.
Jun only smiled in the darkness.
“Don’t worry, I will always be by your side when you need me. Always.” Jun’s crispy voice echoed in the atmosphere.
When Mao stirred, she was blinded by the rays of sunlight that shone in through her window.
She was still lying on Jun’s chest, exactly like how Jun had placed her the night before. It was then that she realized that he had opened his shirt for the first time, just for her, and she had the privilege of being allowed to feel his bare skin.
Mao slowly ran the fingers of her right hand over his smooth skin, careful not to wake him up. Her fingers moved along the contours of his lower abdomen, running over every muscle, in the slowest motion that she could manage. When they reached his navel, they just stopped. She savoured the moment. His skin felt so nice around that area. Mao moved her fingers inside the little depression that was his navel and suddenly retracted them when she felt his torso stretching. He was awake.
Jun arched his back a little and removed Mao’s left hand from underneath it. She froze. She couldn’t understand what Jun was about to do. She peered at the region of his upper torso that she could see from the corner of her eyes. It was exposed to the air, uncovered by the blanket. He had made sure that Mao was covered with the blanket but he didn’t seem to care about whether he would feel cold that night. She wondered whether Jun had been shivering because of her.
He still didn’t move. Mao got a little scared. Jun could be unpredictable sometimes. His hand slowly moved to touch her neck and caressed it.
“Go on~” Those words escaped Jun’s mouth.
Mao’s heart beat faster now. She was a little nervous and didn’t really understand what Jun meant.
When she did not react to his words, Jun took her hand and placed it at the place where it was before he seemed to have awoken.
She moved her fingers slowly, feeling his navel again as Jun’s fingers moved faster on her neck. He let out a low-pitched moan and seemed to be enjoying every moment of it.
Mao crawled higher up to come face to face with Jun. He still had his fingers on her neck Her hands were still in contact with his torso as she moved higher.
He held her neck firmly and moved his head closer to it before planting a soft kiss on her neck. That kiss sent an electrifying feeling through Mao’s body. She struggled to keep her breath normal because she was breathing uncontrollably fast now. Jun continued to kiss and suck at her neck, leaving trails of his own saliva to evaporate from her neck. She responded by massaging his abdomen, feeling every inch of his skin.
“I will only allow you to touch me...” was the words that left Jun’s mouth as his lips rested on her neck.
Mao tried not to move much since she didn’t want to disrupt the moment of Jun devouring her neck but she desperately wanted to remove his shirt from his body. The moment she tried to, Jun lifted his lips from her skin and held her shoulders tight. He brought her face just above him and then forced her body to crumble on his before engaging her in a long but soft kiss. Mao’s hands stopped at his collar and wrapped them around his neck. Jun slid his hands up to her head and entangled them in her long hair. It was a kiss of longing, of their love for each other.
When Jun ended the kiss, they just sat on the bed, gazing at each other.

That memory lingered in her as if it had just taken place in the morning. She got startled when a phone call in her office brought her back to her work.
When Mao put down the phone, she stared into the space around her, lost in time. Her expression was the bipolar opposite of what it was before she received the call.
