Writers Muses 84.7 Mun: Ten years time

May 15, 2009 23:11

If you were to place your muse on a timeline of say 10 year increments for mortals, and 75 years for Immortals, how do you see them changing during those years? Will they sway from good to bad? Will they find one partner to share their life with? Or will they fill it with many? Share as much detail with us as you're comfortable with.

In ten years time Harry will be 73, which is getting on a bit. He was fit and healthy and not really slowing down before he had his knee injured. The NHS do replacement knees so he'll probably get one at some point, but dealing with that injury will not be a help. So in ten years time he'll be feeling his age a little more.

Assuming he marries, and is still married to Elaine, she'll be 57. Which is still under retirement age regardless of whether they've put it up by then. I think it'll make things complicated because Harry's not going to be great at being retired in the first place and he won't quite know what to do with himself. And he can't go off and retire to somewhere in the country by the sea unless he does it on his own.

Kelly will be 27 and regardless of what happens between Harry and her mother she'll consider him to be the closest thing to a father he has and he'll consider her to be the closest thing to a daughter he has. Maybe she'll have a baby and Harry will be entranced by the whole baby thing, yet feel useless because he's not had that much contact with babies.

But whatever happens he'll still be essentially Harry. Because Harry never really changes that much.
