Valentine's Day... As someone in my Ethics class put bluntly: Singles Awareness Day. I have spent my entire life feeling that same way. But this year... I found new meaning in the holiday.
I got this package in the mail, as I said before, from Shane, and I was almost certain it was filled with anthrax or SARS or something. But he called me on V-Day morning and told me to open it... so I did... and I'm like, "umm this is empty. Hello?... Hey, there's nothing in this box!!!" Then there was a knock on my door, "Ugh, hold on, ok." (pretty much talking to no one) I slid outta bed and went over and opened the door... and there was ma honey bunch, standing there in the hallway with flowers and presents... YAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! I WAS SO GENUINELY HAPPY AND EXCITED I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY - IN SHOCK!!!!! He got me a pic frame engraved with a line from a poem that Isolde read to Tristan in the original Romeo & Juliet tale that was recently made into a movie. "Set me as a seal..." Look it up if you care. Oh, yeah, and the frame was shaped like a heart. Alright everyone at once... Awwwwwwwwwwww! Ok. I also got chocolate - tee hee. And a rose and lillies. They're still going strong despite the fact that I had nothing better to put them in besides a thermus.
He continued to spend the rest of the day with me. We watched the Incredibles (like my fav) and Breakfast Club (like his fav), and he went to dinner with the gals and counted the ceiling tiles, singing songs to himself while we talked lol. He enjoyed the meatloaf though. Bet he'd a' enjoyed it more if it was "Meghan-loaf..." (Please do not think that I am a sexual predator, that is merely a line substitution from the Incredibles. Look it up if you care.) I had a reeeally great day with him, and good thing I had no homework and only one class, it was well-spent. Except for the whole 2 hrs or so in the morning that he spent on the phone with the bank and in the bursars office and then literally driving me out to the bank in Penn Yan trying to correct the mistake I made with my direct deposits. Unfortunately, I had written the wrong account number down for work study, but it wasn't invalid, so all of my money was going to someone else... who wisely said nothing. And I, being the idiot, never caught it until now. But thankfully, everythings gonna be ok. Whew! THANK GOD!!! I don't know how I ever managed to write the wrong number in - like the first 3 digits are ok, and then the whole rest is backward... I am now officially dislexic, which probably indicates that I have some sort of learning disability. "Mrs. Russell, I think your daughter has special needs." (Another allusion to the Incredibles.) But I am just really lucky Shane happened to be here on this day to set things straight, cause I woulda been totally cluless and probably woulda eventually thrown my hands in the air and cried like a baby. Even my mother thanked Shane endlessly for being there to help me out.
Aside from the most PERFECT day EVER with SHANE, I also got to talk extensively online later with Heather, who always cracks me up and helps me put my present life and future in perspective. I love her to death. The future Aunt Heathy. And I also got candy from my grandparents and parents, and OMG a lion from Babe! It's holding a heart that says, "I Got You Babe," and when you press it's tummy, he sings the Sonny and Cher song!!! BAAAAABE!!! I really miss that gal. She also sent with it some candy and letters on red construction paper, which I have taped to my wall now lol. This one, in the shape of a heart, is my favorite: "'Only a real friend tells you when your face is dirty.' I interpreted that as 'Only a real friend would look up your nose to do a booger check.'" Yeah... that's my babe lol. And yes... I did do that for her haha.
I had a great V-Day all in all, and I wouldn't trade any of it for the world!!!!!!!!! V-Day is a day to cherish and appreciate EVERYONE you love in your life. I'm not just talking about BFs and GFs, I'm talking about the BFFs, the Babes, the bro, the sis, and the rents. It is a wonderful time of year to remind your friends and family just how much you love and appreciate them. Hope everyone had a loving day, and lots of love and hugs and kisses either way!!!!
