So, a lj friend poked me! I haven't updated here in. . .well. A while.
But life is good. I'm starting a new job tomorrow. Like, a real job (I'll talk more about it, well, tomorrow after day one). I'm thrilled. I get to work in my field, and not have to be on call. I'm going to be involved in policy development. I'm going to get to geek out researching best practices. It's going to be awesome (I hope. I'm nervous. I hate making first impressions and trying to figure out office politics and find my place in that. But I think after this year, I'm better equiped to do just that in a mostly graceful way.)
On the home front, I'm moving in with two friends beginning of August. We're looking for a house, I'll be the youngest member of the household, which will be a refreshing change from this year, when I have been the most senior member. Well, apart, I suppose from the four cats that my commrades are bringing to the picture, the cats are younger than me. But we're already talking about a communal potluck dinner night, and making Friday night roommate night. I'm excited to move in with these two awesome women. In an odd twist of fate, all my roommates and I have our noses pierced.
I have an amazing woman in my life. She seems to kind of like me, too. Actually, I have a number of amazing women and men in my life (it has been reenforced about a zillion times to me that the queer community in Boulder is miniscule,) I love my social circle. I'm looking forward to expanding it via this job. I miss working with passionate, progressive people. No diapers to change, no java to jerk. It feels good.
Anyway, that's the brief State of the Emily.
