You never knew a woman like my Aunt Linda. She was vibrant and free spirited and full of more life than you could imagine. Her smile made you smile, her laugh made you laugh, her hugs made all of the pain go away in a matter of seconds.
Thank you to all my wonderful and amazing friends out there who offered up their prayers and love for my Aunt Linda. It is truly amazing to me how many good and kind people I have in my life, and I hope you all know that I love and adore, each and every last one of you. You unselfishly offered up your love, to a woman you never knew, simply because I asked you to. That, my dear dear friends, is the sign that there is hope in this world... A sign that people on this earth can and do still love, with their whole selves and for the whole of humanity.
Linda Mandell died quietly on Friday, October 6, 2006 at DePaul Hospital in Norfolk, VA. She was 58 years old. Her husband, John, was with her when she left this earth.
She is survived not only by John, and her two sons, Chris and Brian but by ALL of us. She leaves us passing on a legacy of love, beauty, tolerance, passion and most of all, kindness. I ask you all, to please take this legacy that she left every single one of us, and take it to heart. Love as much as you can love, feel as much as you can feel, give as much as you can give... Because in this world, we only have what we have been able to give.
Aunt Linda left this world knowing that she was, is and always will be, surrounded by love. I will never be able to sit on her lap or hug her, ever again... But, I can feel her embracing me right now, and telling me, "It's all going to be okay".
"I am at ease in the arms of a woman
although now most of my days are spent alone
a thousand miles from the place I was born
but when she wakes me she takes me back home"
-Amos Lee "Arms Of A Woman"
