Happy November NaNo-month folks! I don't have much new to report, but I figured I'd drop in and say hi. :)
Last month, Justen and Amanda hosted a murder mystery, and it was a lot of fun! I got to play an Egyptian curator of the Luxor Museum, who was secretely a cult headmistress. There were about 10 of us participating and we all had a lot of fun. I would definitely enjoy doing another one, and might consider hosting one in the future. I haven't had people over in forever, so I'm thinking of hosting a party soon, either for Christmas or my birthday (which is on a Saturday).
It's been a little over a month, and things are going well with me and Kyle. I'm feeling a lot more comfortable being in a relationship than I did at the beginning, and he's really sweet. :)
On Saturday, I met a few of Kyle's friends and they're all a lot of fun. Garrett (the host) disapproved of me when I told him I wasn't a fan of Napoleon Dynamite (and fell asleep during it), but after I started quoting Office Space, Simpsons and Family Guy, he said I was on his good side again, ha ha. As soon as everyone showed up at Garrett's, we took a detour to visit his stepmom's bridal shop grand opening. It was a beautiful shop, and my girly side definitely surfaced as I oggled the pretty dresses. :þ
Yesterday, I bought a new
Nikon camera off eBay - it was totally an impulse purchase, but I'm so stoked! I should get it within a week or two. Glee!
NaNoWriMo is going well so far (with the exception of yesterday - I was pretty lazy). I wasn't planning on doing it, but Justen gave me inspiration for a story, and I'm pretty excited about it. I feel a lot more confident about my story and the characters this year than I did last year, and planned the plot out a lot better (except for the actual historical details - my story is set around 17-18th century England and I haven't researched quite enough yet). My username is
folkgirl on the site for anyone else doing NaNo.
On November 30, I will be celebrating the end of NaNo at my work Christmas party. Then on December 1, Victoria and I are driving to Vancouver for a few days to see the Spice Girls! I'm looking forward to that!
I've been doing a bit more graphic design work on the side, and that's been a lot of fun. A month or two ago, I came up with a concept for a project I want to embark on - but that will be a secret for now until I get a bit more planned out! All I know is that I will need creative assistance for it. After NaNo, I might start planning and researching for the project. :)
Anyway, work's a bit slow so I'm going to try to sneak in some writing time! On Friday I managed to write 500 words during work. I'm hoping to reach at least 7.5K words by the end of today (I'm at 5.5 now). After work, I'm going straight to Second Cup (either on Jasper or Churchill Square) so if anyone wants to join me, let me know! Edit: Woo hoo, 6.3K words! I managed to write 800 words during work today. I'm going to grab a bite to eat and then I'll be heading to the Second Cup on Jasper and 105 St (I think - it's by the Bay station and Club Fit). Feel free to come by and write or say hi!
