New Job

Jul 23, 2007 16:24

Well, last week Tracey lectured me for neglecting my journal, so I promised I'd update it. And... here I am, a week after I said that, finally updating! For the most part, work's been busy, but it's been dead the past couple days.

I accepted a new job, with Jacobs Engineering. It's for a lead position, though I'm not 100% sure if the lead position will be immediate or not. I'm also not sure which project I'll be on, but I was told it would be a very small one. I'm excited for the new opportunity, and to finally be working downtown (i.e., somewhere convenient to get to)! I'll be just off Jasper and 106 St, very close to where I used to live.

My last day with Bantrel is tomorrow (Wednesday). I don't start at Jacob's until August 7, so I have (another) two weeks off! I know, spoiled, huh? Except, I kind of regret arranging it that way, because I'm still pretty broke from my trip. -_- It was my dad's suggestion to take time off inbetween, and I'm going to Calgary this weekend anyway so it'll be nice to have some time to relax and sort through things at home before I start working again.

I'm going to miss a lot of my coworkers. I feel really torn about this change. It's a better opportunity, much more convenient, and I know once I start, I'll meet new people and it'll be exciting. I guess I'm more anxious than anything!

I still haven't started the last Harry Potter book yet. I'm hoping to start it this weekend while I'm at the folk festival. I also hope I can avoid spoilers (specifically, the "spoiler" Facebook group everyone is talking about!). This is the problem with being a leisurely reader!

Tonight I have a date with a guy I met online - well, sort of met online. I sent the profile to Amanda to get her stamp of approval, and she pointed out that it was one of the guys we met at a frat party two years ago! She went on a few dates with him, and said he's really nice and an intellect! I can't remember if he has a Philosophy degree or is going back for one. Definitely seems like a nice guy, and quirky, which I like. Whenever Jenn sees someone nerdy, she points out that he'd be perfect for me! We're going to Muddy Waters tonight, so I guess we'll wait and see how that goes!

I've been in a funk lately, and I'm not sure why. Different things. Hopefully it'll pass soon.

Lastly, I posted five new albums on Facebook, so go check them out if you want to see my trip pictures!
