It's from a company called Aptera, and it's called the Super-MPG Electric Typ-1 e. It's an all electric car that has a 120 mile range before refueling and can run up to 90 mph (144.8 kph). Inside, it has a 360 degree video view display instead of review mirrors, and comes with a touch screen navigational computer. All of the inside materials (seats, floorpad, lining) are made of recyclable materials.
The Typ-1 h is the hybrid model that gets 300 miles/gallon! That's crazy efficiency. Aptera is also working on a more conventional four-wheel chassis that will seat up to 5 passengers.
The Typ-1 e and Typ-1 h are probably meant for driving in a drier environment as it might not handle well in snowy weather, but that is speculation. From reader comments, it looks like it migiht be classified as a motorcycle-type vehicle since it has 3 wheels. I imagine the Typ-2 series will be classified as an automobile and require bumpers.
The article says the Typ-1 e will be priced at about $27K and available next year! The Typ-2 is scheduled for 2009.
I SOOO have to get one of these :-D
