The week started off badly with a flat tire for my car after dropping off a pair of pants for
sarcasm_hime on Sunday for her Evolution show. I must have parked on something sharp because I didn't notice anything amiss while driving to the Toronto Center of the Arts. But while driving down the road back onto Yonge St., I could hear the tell-tale sounds of the flat tire. I was hoping it was merely a slow leak, so I stood outside like an idiot pumping air into the tire with this small foot-pedal air pump I got years ago -- no luck. Since my jack is missing its handle¹, thereby rendering it useless, I couldn't replace the tire with the spare on my own. So I called Mr Agnerian who came with a weird, twisty jack and together we got the spare on (a pitiful little thing that felt wobbly while I was driving back home). This, of course, means another trip to Hell (Canadian Tire)² to get a new tire and a new jack. Since it is Hell, I haven't been inclined to do either yet (which is bad because I need to drive my car very soon).
Monday was little better because after a bad day at work, an argument at home, the 1st 20 minutes of
Heroes was missed.
NBC's official site has the ep available but it never plays on any computer I've tried so far. Will have to get a torrent of it. I liked the rest of the episode, though, and thought it was better than the previous week's. I'm hoping the show will last beyond the season, but one can never tell how fickle network TV executives will treat a good show.
The rest of the week has been mediocre, and I've been very apathetic about things. I need to kill that off so I can get some stuff accomplished (car, apt cleaning, apt necessities, pick-up a special present, backup the computers, start writing, start working out, update resume, explore game development, etc). I did cut my hair finally, but it needs a week before it looks the way I like it.
Oh yeah. Shinobi was good and Special was alright. I liked both but Shinobi was far more appealing and some of the super-ninja characters had some WICKED-ass powers that need to be incorporated into a game like
9Dragons if they aren't already.
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is coming along. Favorite quote so far: Jonathan Strange has gone to Portugal to assist the Lord Wellington, commander of the British army, in the war effort against Napoleon's French forces:
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange.
Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could".
This weekend may bring a trip to Montreal to visit a friend, and later to IKEA for apt shelving that's needed for continued tidiness.
EDIT: Oh yay, today's mail included notification of my license plate renewal and mandatory emissions test...*scowl!*
--------------------------------------
¹ Back when I lived at Macdonell Ave with Maral, Chuck, Paulina and Mark my car was broken into a few times. On the 1st such occasion, my empty suitcase and jack-handle were stolen. I suppose the thief was going on a trip soon and perhaps wanted to be prepared...
² Ah yes, if only I had been posting in LJ last year and before to regale you with tales of my car's Adventures in Hell. Said adventures were comprised of the ordeal of getting Canadian license plates, emission tests, auto insurance and things, most of which required several visits to the Canadian Tire on Yonge & Bloor and Danforth & Main. On one such visit at the Danforth & Main location, the mechanics expertly "fixed" my windshield wiper fluid pumps so that they would spray a jet of fluid OVER the top of my car, surely intended to splash any vehicle behind me. If I never need to visit CT Hell again I'd be altogether too happy. But such things are not meant to last.
