>_< Bah on Bush.

Lets all move to Japan and be the freaky white kids. (or...black kids)

But seriously...Jeeze. True, It was Clinton's personal life, as long as it didn't mess up what he was doing for the USA, it didn't concern us. Denying the fact that a level 5/4 hurricane was going to bust up N.O, is serious damage. SOMETHING THAT DOES CONCERN US!

BOO!

I'm in a bad mood...Sorry.

first off, we'll say Thousands of lives hinged on this, i think that "millions of lives is a little over-exagerate, the population of new orleans is only about 485,000 and the surround areas PROBABLY didnt add up to 2 million, if that is what you are considering "millions"

Secondly, Bush urged the Senate to donate over $60 billion to relief aid, this goes unacredited, which they did

third, Im not going to justify that he lied about it, but i am going to say how can you say that he messed up, he didn't cause this storm, there was nothing that he could do about it, in this case very LITTLE can be blamed on George W. Bush, but people usually find a way to blame him for FAR more than his shower

In all technicalities, he is a liar.

But in all technicalities, so am I, so are you, and so is just about everyone else on the face of this planet.

Yes, he is a liar, because he lied about it. But is he a pathological liar? Nah, probably not.

Yes, millions of lives was a gross exaggeration. Bush did urge the senate to donate that $$$ to the relief aid, and that is an excellent thing. However, he was forewarned of the fact that the levees probably wouldn't hold, etc, and he most likely could have done SOMETHING about it. Exactly what, I'm not entirely sure, to be honest, but he did have ample forewarning, but he didn't actually do anything until afterwards, when the toll had been taken ( ... )

well, also the president has advisors who control his actions

For all that the general public knows(which is us) he could have been WANTING to say "Yeah, I was briefed about the whole thing, but there wasn't much I could do" but his advisors told him to say differently OR the other way around he could have just been wanting to lie about it and his advisors told him to just admit it, so lets not ASSUME anything

-From a Democrat.
I think most of the people who discuss this miss one big thing.

There was a mandatory fucking evacuation

....That means you're SUPPOSED TO LEAVE. -"Oh yeah well some of the people were to old or poor"- That's why they provided shelters in the towns, those people were just to reluctant to get out of thier houses. Even the people that were very sickly had enough forewarning to get plenty enough help to get transfered into the shelter or out of harms way. For christ sake, they had FREE grey hound buses traveling out of the area. FREE. So what I'm saying is the number of lives that were lost during Katrina, could have been reduced tremendously if some of the people would have just left thier houses like they were TOLD to.

Agreed. I think it's mental that they didn't leave when the evacuation was issued. I didn't overlook it, I promise. I just didn't actually bring it up in this particular post. But yes, it's absurd, and though it wasn't Bush's fault that they didn't evac, I still think he could have potentially done more, or at least not lied about not being briefed. But he could also have said "Yeah, I was briefed about the whole thing, but there wasn't much I could do," and he would inevitably catch shit from people about that too, so the Pres seems to be in a constant Catch 22 with things like this.
