I'm probably opening a can of worms by posting this, but I have to know everyone's thoughts ( Read more... )

In all technicalities, he is a liar.

But in all technicalities, so am I, so are you, and so is just about everyone else on the face of this planet.

Yes, he is a liar, because he lied about it. But is he a pathological liar? Nah, probably not.

Yes, millions of lives was a gross exaggeration. Bush did urge the senate to donate that $$$ to the relief aid, and that is an excellent thing. However, he was forewarned of the fact that the levees probably wouldn't hold, etc, and he most likely could have done SOMETHING about it. Exactly what, I'm not entirely sure, to be honest, but he did have ample forewarning, but he didn't actually do anything until afterwards, when the toll had been taken.

But perhaps I am being a bit unfair, on the grounds that at this particular moment, I can't even think of anything that he could have done to help before hand, except perhaps reinforce the levees or provide choppers and such to help evacuate the city.

Regardless, I'm not trying to start shit, or anything, but I think it proves a point that people these days, not just the president, but a large amount of the population as a whole, find it impossible to say "Yeah, I could have done better but screwed up." and would rather attempt to lie about it. Think Watergate scandal, think...That's actually the only thing that comes to mind at the moment, aside from Clinton's afforementioned...short'cum'mings.

well, also the president has advisors who control his actions

For all that the general public knows(which is us) he could have been WANTING to say "Yeah, I was briefed about the whole thing, but there wasn't much I could do" but his advisors told him to say differently OR the other way around he could have just been wanting to lie about it and his advisors told him to just admit it, so lets not ASSUME anything

and when i say assume, i mean that BUSH is the one lying when it could have been his advisors

but i agree that people have the HARDEST time admiting that they were wrong
