Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3A Chapter 3B Chapter 4 Hyukjae woke up alone and sighed. Perhaps it was all a dream. A very, very long dream. Maybe even getting dumped was part of the dream, because, really. He wasn't stupid enough to go out on the streets alone. Right? Who is he kidding? He knows it wasn't a dream but he wishes it was. Maybe then he doesn't have to face the cold reality. Maybe then he won't have to deal with the fact that he is alone. Alone without a lover, alone without a friend, alone without a... without a warm, comforting teenager next to him. He sat up and decided since he's been here long enough, he could walk around the house without the teen's permission. So he got off of the couch.
He searched the house and found no signs of the teenager. Not in the tiny kitchen. Not in the tiny bathroom. Not in the bedroom. He even went so far as checking the two closets. He frowned to himself. No where. Then realization sunk in. It is Monday. Donghae is at school. After all, the teen kept saying he would want to skip school to "spend it with his Hyukkie" as he put it, but Hyukjae lectured him and told him to go to school. The only way to get the teen to agree is by saying he wouldn't leave until the teen came back, that way the teen could bid him a farewell.
He checked his phone and sighed. Donghae had said he starts school at seven in the morning. He has school for eight hours, which means he gets out at three in the afternoon. It's twelve in the afternoon now. What is he supposed to do for three hours? He supposes he could always take a shower. After all, Donghae told him it's free to his use. Might as well use it.
~~
Hyukjae finished putting on his clothes-actually, some clothes Donghae gave him to wear yesterday, just in case he didn't like the clothes he was already wearing-and sighed to himself again as he picked up the towel and dried his hair with it. What time is it now? He went into the livingroom and checked his cell phone.
He cursed inwardly as it was only twenty minutes past twelve. How long is this going to take?
~~
Hyukjae decided to start snooping around. He was looking through some of Donghae's drawers. He was sure his face was red because in almost every drawer there was some type of sex toy. Why would a single guy need handcuffs and other sort of retraints, though?
He shook it off and delve into the last drawer. Underneath a bunch of clothes was a video camera, and seeing all of what was in the other drawers along with his clothes, Hyukjae's conscience told him not to watch, but who listens to their conscience anyway?
He watched for a while, Donghae was naked, on the bed and bound there. He was moaning despite no one touching him. Then a person came into sight, but Hyukjae was more focused on Donghae. Or, he was until he caught sight of that killer smile that seems familiar. Then his face dropped.
"Ki...bum?" He turned off the video camera and stuck it back in the drawer. Now that he thinks about it. Kibum kept sending... mean... very mean glances to Donghae. But, why would someone who hates Donghae want to hang with him? Donghae had hid from Kibum, but when they were together, everytime he would hang off of Hyukjae, he would send a wondering glance to Kibum.
Then there was what Kibum had done. "You're in Mokpo, Hyukkie." At that time, how did he not notice the venomous way his name came past those lips? How did he not notice the way Kibum glared at Donghae? Then... if Kibum and Donghae had had sex, and Donghae actually kept a tape of it, then they must at least be fuck-buddies. Why would Donghae only introduce him as a classmate?
If the teen already had a fuck-buddy, why was he advancing on Hyukjae? Then he remembered the guilty look on Donghae's face last night when he talked about his boyfriend cheating on him, and he was sold. Kibum and Donghae were an item. How had he not noticed it earlier?
He needs proof. He walked away from the dresser and into Donghae's closet. Earlier when looking for the younger man he caught glimpse of a tiny box. He opened it and looked through. There was birthday cards, a necklace, a chain bracelet and pictures. He read the cards, all just consiting of the same thing. Happy Birthday Donghae. I love you, Kibum. Then Hyukjae looked at the necklace, in tiny letters it was carved "Kihae." He frowned. Kihae.
He looked at the pictures. picture after picture, Kibum smiling, his arms wrapped around Donghae's waist. Kibum and Donghae kissing. Kibum and Donghae making faces at the camera. All were of only the two. They are an item. This is proof. He frowned again and put everything back into the box and put it back in it's rightful place.
He shut the closet door and sighed. Was sex all Donghae cared about? Because if he cared about Hyukjae, then he wouldn't have still cuddled with Hyukjae after the older man expressed how he felt about cheaters. He laughed bitterly. Who was he kidding? He just met the kid. Why would he care about him? It's not like Hyukjae cares about Donghae.
He walked to the lving room and checked his phone. It was two. He has one more hour. He sat down. Why does he feel like he was just stabbed in the stomach? Why? He couldn't find and answer and he fiddled with his phone. Before he even registered what he was doing, he pulled out his phone and dialed a familiar number. This is the person he always goes to for answers he can't figure out himself. Just like when they were in high school and he couldn't get an answer on his test. He chuckled at the memory, despite the empty feeling he had inside.
"Hello?" "Jongwoon?" "It's Yesu-Hyuk?" Hyukjae bit his lip nodded. "Yes." "U...um. Hi?" "I'm sorry... are you busy?" "Wha-what? No... I mean... I'm with-." "Jungsu. Yesung, if this is awkward for you, I can go." Someone was whispering yes in the background and he felt like someone just stabbed him when he realized it was probably Jungsu. "No...no. If you called it was probably for a... it is for a good reason." Hyukjae smiled at Yesung's attempt to be friendly.
"Its actually a long story, if you're feeling uncomfortable, or if Jungsu is, then, really. I can go." There was a long silence, then a sigh. There was a whispered sorry and Hyukjae was confused when heard Jungsu ask why. "Hyuk, we were friends before I even started seeing... I'm sorry about that. But we were friends since high school. Nothing can come between us." The sadistic side of Hyukjae would do anything to see Jungsu's face right now. "Okay.... well be prepared for a long story then." There was a chuckle. "If it's originally long then I should be prepared for hours. You drag out every little detail."
Hyukjae laughed and felt like he was back in high school. Back when he and Yesung hadn't even started going out, but they both knew they liked each other. Back when they were new to things and held hands, found comfort in each other's warmth. There was a tingle in his chest and the emptiness in his stomach seemed to now be vacated by butterflies. Yesung remembers the tiniest things about him, and Hyukjae knows-he came to a conclusion long ago-no matter what Yesung does, he'll always have a piece of Hyukjae's heart.
"You know me so well."
~~
"So... he's cheating on his boyfriend... with you?" Yesung's voice was shaky at first, dealing with the whole cheating thing. Soon he had seemed like he'd forgotten anything besides Hyukjae, and he wanted to laugh in Jungsu's face. Why was he acting this bitter? "No no no. We didn't do anything. We were going to... well he was trying to and I almost gave in, but I didn't." "You're sad you didn't give in?" "W-what, no!" "Hyuk, as far as I'm concerned. Back in high school, when we broke up, I was right." There was a gasp followed by Yesung's deep voice saying "crap."
When Hyukjae got a boyfriend, Yesung and him agreed they would never bring up their past relationship. Therefore, Jungsu probably didn't know he was cheating on his boyfriend with his boyfriend's ex. "Hyuk-." "I got it, bye. Good luck." "Thanks. Bye." Then Yesung was gone.
Hyukjae sighed and leaned his head against the couch. As far as he's concerned, when they broke up, he was right. He is right. Crap. Yesung is never wrong.
Hyukjae frowned and glared at the ceiling. "I hate you," he muttered pretending it was Yesung. It isn't fair Yesung is so smart. "Great, I bring a friend home after assuring him the guy in my apartment is perfectly sane, and here you are. Talking to a ceiling. Telling it you hate it." Hyukjae looked at Donghae nervously. He glared up at the ceiling again, forgetting everything as he realized just how right Yesung was. "I really hate you."
"Donghae, I don't believe he's in his right mind." Donghae walked up to Hyukjae and patted the older man on the head and bent down to be eye-level with the older man. "Hyukkie, are you okay?" I really hate you Yesung. "I'm fine. I guess I just need to get back home." He cursed himself for not calling Yoochun to pick him up.
Donghae frowned. "Kyu, it's in my bedroom, under my bed. You'll see it. Take it and you can leave." The guy Donghae had talked to frowned but decided to listen and walked into the bed room. "Hyukkie. You have all night. Why leave?" "I can't stay here with a," Hyukjae contemplated his words and decided against what he was originally going to say," teenager I'm attracted to. I'm feeling too guilty. I still love Jungsu."
There was disappointment and happiness written on Donghae's face and it seemed the teen was conflicted. "Then you just need to get over him." Hyukjae frowned. "I don't think I can. I loved... I love him." "Hyukkie, where is this coming from?" Hyukjae was lost. He didn't know what to say. He was just making things up as he went along. "I was talking about cheaters last night and when I talked about him, I realized, I can hate every cheater out there, but not him. I can't stay here. I feel like I'm cheating on him and I mean... I'm not."
Donghae frowned. "Just a little while longer, please, Hyukkie."
~~
Hyukjae lays in the bed and wonders why he had called Junsu and Yoochun up and told them not to bother with picking him up, why he had told then he's staying the night. Why he was laying with his arms wrapped around and teenager who is in a relationship with someone. He couldn't think of anything other than "because Yesung is always right."
~~
When he wakes up the next day, he goes through his phone and sees Donghae's contact on his phone. He never programed the guy's number. Why is it there? He sighs and figures the teen did and gets up to see if there is any signs of the man. He's disappointed when there isn't but he knows what he has to do, and he dials a number.
~~
"Yesung, thank you again for picking me up. I'm really sorry, Yoochun was supposed to... but he and Junsu decides they don't like willing away their morning erections and fuck instead." Yesung chuckled. "It's no problem. Anything for you, Hyuk. "How... how is Jungsu?" "Grieving. He can't live with the guilt. You know how smart he is." "The thing I want to know is... why?"
Yesung keeps his eyes trained on the road. "Why...? I don't know, really. One minute he was talking about how he doesn't deserve you-drinking away at alcohol. Next minute, he's kissing me. I was lonely, and he was drunk. I'm sorry but I took advantage. All those other times... it's when he would grieve over his ex." Jungsu's ex.
Not many knew about him, but Hyukjae did, and apparently, so does Yesung. "He still likes him a little," Hyukjae mutters not trying to sound mean, because he wasn't mad about it. You can't help who you like. Yesung shakes his head and Hyukjae momentarily thinks he's in denial. "No, he's still head over heals for the guy. Do you know he hasn't spoken the man's name since he had to leave... for four years. Four years without speaking you first lover's name."
Hyukjae didn't know that. He looked at Yesung with saddened eyes. "Jungsu... Hyuk, I never thought thought he would leave you, but I'm a bit happy he did." Hyukjae knew Yesung means well but couldn't help but look offended. "What do you mean?" "I don't want you falling too deep for a guy who you can only have physically. Emotionally... his emotions that revolve around love. They're somewhere deep inside of his dreams. His dreams where he is with his first lover who only he knows the name of."
Hyukjae thinks of the times he had watched the other man sleep. There was a small smile on the man's face all the time when he slept, and Hyukjae now understands why. He was with his first lover. This man who nobody but he knows." Hyukjae thinks of the times he had watched the other man sleep. There was a small smile on the man's face all the time when he slept, and Hyukjae now understands why. He was with his first lover. This man who nobody but he knows." It makes sense and Hyukjae feels sorry for his old lover. Though what can he do?
~~
He walks in and his face scrunches up as he hears grunts and moans. "You're disgusting, you two!" He goes to walk to his bedroom but stares in shock at the door when-he can only guess is Yoochun-yells out. "Three! Changmin's here too!" "By choice?" "Now that wouldn't be any fun." Hyukjae rolls his eyes. He wonders momentarily if this kid would ever tell on Junsu or Yoochun. If he did, then Hyukjae could kiss his best friend and his other friend (he wonders why he even considers the kinky bastard a friend) goodbye. He goes into his bedroom and lies down on his big spacey bed. He can't help but feel it's so much better to be in bed when he had a certain teen lying next to him.
