"Hey, wait! I'm a good guy!" Owen exclaimed as Blue Beetle flew them both into the air, holding him by the back of his jacket.
Jaime gave him a look. "Oh c'mon, do I look that stupid? You said you were Captain Boomerang, and you have boomerangs!” he announced. “I know Captain Boomerang is part of the Flash's Gallery of Rogues!”
“That's not me!” Owen replied, thinking better of squirming too much so far up in the air. “That's my dad. I'm doing good things with the name!”
The Scarab beeped and whirred skeptically at Jaime. “Oh yeah? Well, I need proof, man.”
With a frown, Owen started digging through his pockets and grinned triumphantly when he pulled out his cell phone. “Call Supergirl! She'll vouch for me!” he told Jaime, handing over his cell phone.
“You have Supergirl's number!?” Jaime exclaimed as he took the phone before clearing his throat as he pressed dialed. “If it really is her number.”
Jaime bit back telling the Scarab to shut up; he did not need sarcastic commentary from a bug melded to his back. “Boomer! How did your trip to the Southwest go?” an excited yet familiar voice asked from the other side of the phone.
“Uhhh,” Jaime stammered. “Ahem, this is Blue Beetle, actually, and-”
“Huh? Why do you have Boomer's phone?” she questioned.
“Well, I need to know if you're Supergirl first,” he replied nervously.
“Of course, I am,” Supegirl answered. “Jaime, what's the deal?”
Jaime cringed as he started to fly back down to the ground. “I had a little misunderstanding with 'Boomer' here. Sorry about that. He'll call you back later!” he babbled really quickly before flipping the cell phone shut.
Owen stared at Jaime when his feet hit the ground. “Dude, you just hung up on Supergirl,” he said with wide eyes.
“Oh god...” Jaime breathed, floating off the ground. “I think I'm going to...make myself scarce for a while. Sorry about the mix up!”
With that, Jaime flew off, heading back home to El Paso and hoping he can just curl up in bed without another embarrassing incident of mistaken identity.
