My story for the Thou Shalt Not... anthology came back with a reject. It's now at Son and Foe. Also, since Prairie Dog 13's reading period is open again, I sent the one waiting on them out.

I don't know why I don't put titles in these things. I guess cuz my titles always sound stupid to me. But here's the lineup: ( cut for the people who don't care )

Quick (5 day) rejection from Son and Foe. Enjoyed it, doesn't want it, "please keep us in mind for the future". So I probably don't totally suck.

McSweeney's turned down my sestina, but nicely. Atlantic Monthly has still not gotten back to me and I've exceeded their stated response time (but only by two days and it might have taken as long as 3 for it to get there as it was snailed). I haven't sent out any more poetry and I'm not currently writing it, though I will probably start again on ( Read more... )

I started on a new story yesterday, got about 350 words in, and then hrmed and stopped for a bit. I have this vague idea of what I want but not more than that yet. But the opening image was so strong I had to write it ( Read more... )

I'm giving myself two more days "off", although if I get inspired, obviously I'll write.

Goals for the week starting Sunday the 5th:

Rewrite at least 5, and preferably 10, chapters in Monday.

Finish at least one of the three short stories I have in progress, including revisions.

I'm starting slow. Next week I'll try to have increased goals.

Another "I like this, but" on this story. Not sure where the heck it ought to go next, so it's in the potential revisions pile.
