I'm giving myself two more days "off", although if I get inspired, obviously I'll write.

Goals for the week starting Sunday the 5th:

Rewrite at least 5, and preferably 10, chapters in Monday.

Finish at least one of the three short stories I have in progress, including revisions.

I'm starting slow. Next week I'll try to have increased goals.

Yesterday I was ill enough to take the day off work. Spent my day sleeping.

This morning I finished up chapter 2 (old count: 2311, new: 3005) and have gotten about 800 words into chapter 3. I probably won't finish chapter 3 before I have to leave for work, but a chapter's progress on a weekday morning isn't too bad.

Well, I spent the weekend trying to fight off a cold -- it's amazing I got even two chapters done, honestly -- and yesterday I was so shy on sleep that despite my noisy neighbors I got to bed at 9:30. Got up around 4, and it took me almost 2 hours to be awake enough to try to write.

I said earlier in conversation to someone: I wanted to include this scene in a book so badly that I totally rearranged an outline to include the side story that would contain it. Which is only partly true, but in retrospect, that did have a fair amount to do with how the story got to be what it is, instead of what it was. On the plus side, I think ( Read more... )

The paper edits have been in for a week; I just started the real rewrite. For those of you unacquainted with how I work, what seems to do me well so far is this: 1.
