Pretty when you cry
It had taken Misa awhile to track down Light's room. The Mansion was huge, and she'd had no idea where he might have chosen to stay. It had been at least a week since she'd last seen him.
But she'd caught sight of him one afternoon, ducking into a room on the second floor. She'd made a note of the fact, for later - just in case - hoping that she'd never need the information.
And yet only a few days later, she found herself wanting desperately to speak to him. She was still dreaming of him - dreaming of drowning in a river of blood, waking up screaming in a pool of her own sweat. It was always his name she called out, in those night terrors: never Matt's. She knew it bothered him, but there was nothing she could do about it.
The Matt and Mello thing had been on her mind ever since she found out about it. The situations had only grown more complex when Mello had moved into the room she and Matt shared. She wasn't sure how to feel about it - whether or not Matt would simply grow tired of her one day soon, and throw her out altogether. She knew Mello didn't completely trust her. Her situation was precarious at best.
And worst of all, she had nobody to talk to about it.
She'd deliberated for some time as to whether approaching Light again was a good idea. They hadn't parted on the best terms, and she was still wary of him, given all that she'd heard since being at the mansion. But he was familiar. He was safe. He was Light.
And somehow, she found herself outside his bedroom door after waking from one of her nightmares, still in her skimpy night-dress, bare feet flexing nervously on the carpeted floor. Matt had barely stirred when she'd gotten up. She doubted he'd notice she was missing.
With a deep breath, she raised her hand, and knocked on the door.
